One Call Receives Prestigious American Red Cross Award
The Northeast Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross recently awarded One Call with the “Service to the Armed Forces Business Partner of the Year” award.
The award was accepted on behalf of employees who volunteer weekly at the Red Cross. Employees spend their time with military families explaining how they can request emergency leave for their service member. The Red Cross, through the Hero Care Network, connects family members with their loved ones across the world by delivering important and emergency messages.
Roy Ashkenaz and Gary Hanni are two employees who volunteer to educate and ease the minds of families.
Ashkenaz recalls 12 years ago when he needed to contact his stepson who was in Army basic training to deliver the tragic news of a death in the family. When Ashkenaz contacted the Red Cross, they located his stepson, and Ashkenaz received a call from him in less than an hour.
Hanni, a U.S. Navy retiree, also shares similar motivations, “I’m glad to see that the induction process has improved over the years, and I enjoy being a part of it.” Hanni is hopeful the work he does provides families of military recruits the knowledge they need in order to contact their loved ones in times of need.
As a company centered around helping people, we are humbled and proud to accept the Red Cross award. The good work that is accomplished is a result of the compassion and talent of people we are proud to call our own.
